Jeff Crowe was
New Zealand new captain, succeeding Jeremy Coney who had retired.
During the first
Test match a massive explosion in the capital city Colombo killed 100
people and the New Zealand Cricket Council agreed with the Sri Lankan Board
to abandon the tour.
